Pfizer, Inc. is an American pharmaceutical company that develops medicines and vaccines for use in the fields of immunology, oncology, neurology, cardiology and endocrinology. The company produces and sells well-known medicines such as Benadryl, Lipitor, Zithromax, Sudafed, Desitin, Lubriderm, Visine, Cortizone, Viagra and Zantac75. The company is listed on NYSE and it is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies by revenue in the world.
Pfizer has made several acquisitions, including Warner-Lambert (2000), Pharmacia (2003) and Wyeth (2009), which was the largest. In late 2008 – early 2009, the company went through a reorganization that generated the development of new business units that were more client-oriented, including oncology, emerging markets, established products, primary care, specialty care, consumer healthcare, nutrition and animal health divisions. The company has plants for the production of drugs in 46 countries and maintains offices in 100 countries around the world.
